Privacy Policy

Effective September 1, 2026

Harbora (“we”, “us”) is a journaling and shared-ship app at https://www.harbora.app. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices.

Questions: support@harbora.app.

What we collect

  • Account. Email, password (or Google sign-in), display name, and optional profile details you add (for example birthday or notification preferences).
  • Journal & ships. Entries you write, shared ship names and notes, decorations and outfit choices, and related activity (streaks, care, invites).
  • Device & push. If you enable notifications, a push token for your device so we can send alerts you asked for.
  • Billing. Subscription status (Free or Plus). Payments for Plus are handled by Apple, Google, or another payment provider — we do not store your full card number.
  • Technical logs. Basic server logs (for example IP, timestamps, error reports) used to run and secure the service.

How we use it

  • Provide the app: accounts, journaling, ships, history, and insights.
  • Generate reflections and mood insights from your entries (and shared reflections when both people in a pair have answered).
  • Send email or push messages you opt into (for example ship arrived, partner answered, billing notices).
  • Prevent abuse, fix bugs, and meet legal obligations.

How reflections are made

Journal text may be sent to language-model providers (currently Anthropic for reflections; optionally OpenAI for embeddings when configured) so we can generate reflections and insights. Those providers process content under their own terms to deliver that feature. Do not put information in your journal that you are unwilling to have processed for that purpose.

When we share data

We do not sell your personal information.

We use service providers to operate Harbora (hosting, email, push, reflections, analytics if enabled, and app-store / payment partners). They only get what they need to do their job. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect users and the service.

Retention & deletion

We keep account and journal data while your account is active. You can delete your account in the app (Account → About me → Delete account). The steps, and what is removed or kept, are on the delete your account page. When you delete, we remove or de-identify personal data associated with your account, except records we must keep for legal, security, or accounting reasons (for example billing history).

Children

Harbora is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, contact us and we will delete it.

Your choices

  • Update profile and notification settings in the app.
  • Manage Plus through your Apple or Google subscription settings.
  • Delete your account in the app, or email support@harbora.app for help.

Changes

We may update this policy. We will change the effective date above and, when changes are material, provide additional notice in the app or by email when appropriate.
